This trifold brochure was created as a visual support for presenting SAE‑T at the London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF). The goal was to make a technical project on emotional AI engaging, accessible, and visually memorable for an international audience.
Design Overview
The brochure is structured in three cohesive panels, using a warm beige background that conveys softness and approachability. Accent colors like golden yellow, white, and light brown reflect emotional warmth and curiosity, while guiding the reader’s attention through the layout.
Icons, sparkles, and clean lines are strategically placed to break up content blocks and add visual rhythm, keeping the text readable and dynamic. Font pairings contrast an elegant serif (used for titles and highlights) with a friendly sans serif for easy readability in paragraphs.
Mascot & Personality
The custom illustration of the SAE‑T fox mascot is central to the identity, appearing throughout the brochure in various friendly poses. This not only adds a touch of playfulness but reinforces the AI's role as a companion. Its design style is hand-drawn and rounded, harmonizing with the brochure’s overall softness.
Layout & Composition
The first panel (cover) centers the project name with layered fonts and a faded photo of London in the background, connecting the prototype to its international stage.
The second panel functions as a summary & contact hub, using boxed sections to cleanly present the core idea, author information, and social media handles.
The third panel introduces the project's emotional AI concept through a strong quote and themed icons that draw attention without overcrowding.
Visual Storytelling of Technology
The second image of the brochure expands on the technical aspects with modular sections for RHUMA, hardware, and emotion recognition. Titles use bold white/yellow-on-dark backgrounds for contrast, while images of components (Raspberry Pi, Arduino, servomotors) are presented with captions and shadowing to create depth.
The neural network diagram is visually simplified and integrated with dot connectors, visually linking theory to application. A color-coded legend for basic emotions adds clarity and appeal, especially for viewers outside the AI field.
